An inconvenient fact

The Vancouver Sun had an interesting piece about the co-founder of Greenpeace, Dr. Patrick Moore. He mentions in this text that the environment will be supported the most with planting new trees and using more wood. A new, young tree pulls CO2 from the atmosphere at a much faster rate than the old tree, as the last one is already full with CO2.

His best quote for me is this: ‘To address climate change, we must use more wood, not less. Using wood sends a signal to the marketplace to grow more trees and to produce more wood. That means we can then use less concrete, steel and plastic — heavy carbon emitters through their production. Trees are the only abundant, biodegradable and renewable global resource.’

It seems to me that most environmentalist have a wrong view about the solution for the issues they speak about. The most I ever did was sending Greenpeace some money, so I really have no right to say they are wrong. They fight for something they believe in. However, in the fight, most of the time you lose track of why and how. Fighting against, isn’t my idea of a solution, but that’s a different story.

First Post… Welcome!

27 08 2007

As always, a first post must be an intro to what is going to happen on the blog. Let me explain why I came to this blog and it’s name… Once upon a time I was a ninja, wandering around in the world… Ok, sorry, couldn’t resist…

I like reading articles, news in general about a wide variety of subjects: technology, computers, internet, 3d animation, games, science, personal development, consciousness and much more. I also like to do deep searches into how things work, how I can integrate it in daily life and I had a problem with spreading this information all around my hard disc. I wanted to have a blog where I can get my thought on digital paper and still find things back whenever I need it. I started some other blogs, but they where too focused on a particular subject, which narrowed my expression. My main attention is technology, computers & science, which I love dearly. I can’t explain this, but I always looked for answers on the technology side.

And now the name: I bumped onto a site that had the name ‘ninja’ in it and I thought it was a good idea to gather news, write articles etc. on a blog as a ninja. In my mind, a ninja is unpredictable, as am I in what grabs my attention, so it all came together in the name The News Ninja. I found out that the name was not taken too, so I registered the name, but will not use it, until I have a decent amount of interesting articles/ readers. If not, then why should I invest, right?

So I will write articles and link to interesting news and maybe some people find this interesting enough to come back to this blog. Make comments, which are hopefully constructive (go to this link for more info), give suggestions about the articles/ links etc. to let me know what you think.

CU,

The News Ninja (at gmail.com)
